En Bloc Capsulectomy and Total Capsulectomy

En Bloc Capsulectomy and Breast Implant Removal

The word "En Bloc" means together. In this case, it means that Dr. Hirsch will explant the breast implant and scar tissue capsule together in one piece. When the breast implant is removed from the body, the scar tissue capsule is around it. The picture below illustrates how the implant and capsule are removed during the en bloc capsulectomy and implant removal

Total capsulectomy and Breast Implant Removal

A total capsulectomy means that the breast implant is removed as well as the scar tissue capsule that forms around the implant, but the capsule is not removed around the breast implant. Instead, Los Angeles breast implant removal specialist Dr. Elliot Hirsch makes a small incision under the breast, separates the scar tissue capsule from the body as far as possible, then opens the capsule and removes the breast implant. Once the implant is removed, the remainder of the scar tissue capsule is removed.
