Laser Hair Removal

About the procedure

Laser hair removal is a safe and effective way to permanently remove unwanted body hair.  This procedure is simple and is virtually pain free.  With the new and improved handpieces, Los Angeles hair removal patients of almost all skin types can be candidates!

Laser hair removal works by using a concentrated infrared light pulse that is attracted to the melanin / pigment of the hair follicle, which in essence damages the follicle to help prevent future growth.  Hair has a continuous life cycle and at any given moment only about 20% of the hair is in its growth phase.  This is why laser hair removal requires continuous sessions for successful hair reduction.  On average, each patient, regardless of the area being treated, will require 6-8 treatments.  The recommended length of time in between each treatment is 6-8 weeks.  This proposed regimen is to help mimic and stay within the timeline of the hair growth cycle leading to successful and permanent hair reduction.

Prior to each treatment, patients must shave the area that will be treated. This helps the laser specifically and effectively pick up the pigment at the surface of the skin, sending the absorbed light down the hair shaft to the bulb.  After the treatment, the laser has essentially destroyed each hair follicle and patients will notice the hair, in the treatment areas, falling out within 1-3 weeks.  Patients will also notice their hair growing back, on average, around 6 weeks post treatment, and when it is time for the next treatment.  With each successive treatment, patients will continue to notice a reduction in amount hair that returns.
